The Stewart House at Winthrop University, home to the Alumni Association, has been transformed into a walking historical museum and active working office. This renovation preserves the home’s rich legacy while adapting it into a functional, modern hub for alumni, students, and the Rock Hill community.

Led by Sarah Mickney, owner and lead designer of Design Envy Interiors, the project layers historic preservation with bold design storytelling. Each room captures a piece of Winthrop’s history while functioning as a vibrant, everyday office environment.

Adding a personal layer to the story, Sarah’s mother contributed her artistry through textile craftsmanship—sewing the custom draperies, upholstering dining chairs, and hand-crafting pillows that give the home texture, comfort, and authenticity.
